Each client app runs on its own virtual machine
Every client app runs on a separate virtual machine with its own database, storage, domain, and backups. You manage all instances from one partner portal, and you can remove one client’s instances without changing the rest of the fleet.
One client app per virtual machine
Kosnomos runs every client app on its own virtual machine. Each has a separate application, database, storage, and domain. Client apps do not share database tables or storage.
You can tell clients and prospects exactly how their data is separated: their app runs on a virtual machine that is not shared with another client app.
A virtual machine is not a dedicated physical server. It has processors, memory, and disk allocated to it on infrastructure that we operate.
The instance is assigned to an app, not a client company. A client using three apps has three separate virtual machines, managed and billed as three instances.
Manage every instance together
The partner portal lists every client instance and its current state. You manage isolated virtual machines through one signed-in view instead of separate server logins.
A new client’s first virtual machine is available in about ten minutes. Removing a client affects only that client’s instances and data.
Resources are allocated per instance
Each virtual machine has its own processor and memory allocation. You size each app for its workload, and activity on one client app does not consume another instance’s allocation.
The facts
| Instance definition | One client app on its own virtual machine |
|---|---|
| Client with three apps | Three separate virtual machines, billed as three instances |
| Shared database or storage | None between client apps |
| Fleet management | One partner portal with every instance and its current state |
| First instance setup | Available in about ten minutes |
| Client removal | Only that client’s instances and data are removed |
| Compute resources | Processor and memory allocated to each virtual machine |
| Client access | A client portal limited to that client and its apps |
What this means for you
Clear data separation
Client apps do not share a database or storage, so you can describe the architecture directly.
Remove one client independently
You can remove a client’s instances and data without separating them from a shared database.
One view of the fleet
New instances appear in the same partner portal as the rest of your client apps.
Questions and answers
Common questions about multi-tenancy
- How does multi-tenant hosting work on Kosnomos?
- Every client app runs on its own virtual machine with a separate application, database, storage, domain, and backups. You manage all instances from one partner portal. A client using three apps has three virtual machines.
- Do client apps share data or storage?
- No. Each client app has its own application, database, and storage on a separate virtual machine. Each client also signs in to a portal limited to its company and apps.
- Can a client run more than one app?
- Yes. Each app runs on its own virtual machine and is billed as a separate instance according to its size. All of the client’s apps appear in your partner portal.
- How do I remove a client?
- Export the client’s data in standard formats, then remove their virtual machines. Other client instances are unchanged, and there is no exit fee.
